Orbolution Can Hit the Board at 50-1 in the Juvenile Fillies Turf
9.26 Del Mar, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies
Aiden O’Brien brings in some star performers in to this year’s Juvenile Fillies Turf in Happily and September, for a race he has surprisingly never won. Despite the superiority of European turf horses it is the Americans that dominate this race, winning 7 of the 9 editions to date and it could pay to look at the US runners, at a price.
Chad brown has won this race three times and he holds a strong hand with the two leading US runners in Rushing Fall and Significant Form who are the leading US runners in the market. Rushing Fall looked very good last time out winning impressively but has been dealt a tough draw in stall 11 of 14. Significant Form beat Best Performance and Orbolution in the grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes, who both re-oppose today, but it could be worth chancing the third place finisher Orbolution to do much better this time around.
Orbolution showed very little on dirt over much shorter distances but the switch to turf has seen her in much better light. Her third place finish in the Miss Grillo Stakes was a step up in class, but she ran with credit, racing wide coming in to the straight and also in conceding 6lb to the winner, to be only beaten 2 lengths, where she was given an easy time late on by her jockey.
Her trainer Chad Brown, who won this race in 2010 with More Than Real had stated that the loose turf surface at Saratoga was not to her liking and that the forecast firm Del Mar turf should suit her better. Recent track reports at Del Mar indicate that she has put in some impressive works in the lead up to the race, and with a good draw in stall 6 she rates a great each-way bet at 50/1 with with several UK bookies, who are paying out on the first 4 places; she is likely to be half those odds on the US pools.
