Anecdotic Can Step Up to Group One Company

1.35 Saint-Cloud

Jimmy Two Times has yet to win in 6 starts this season but he may have found the easiest opportunity of the season to finally gain a victory before the end of the year. Even though he has no wins to show for his efforts, he has run consistently having come up against some of the season’s best performers in the likes of Rocoletos, Polydream and Efaadah. He ran with credit in the group 1 Prix de la Foret, beaten 3 lengths returning after a 77 day break; he should now strip much fitter. Many of the horses in opposition come in to this race seemingly below their best and at the ratings Jimmy Two Times comes out top and well-treated with no penalty.

The German contender Peace In Motion is the one horse that does look to be in top form, on the back of 2 wins and she rates the danger and would be a tempting saver at the right price.

Just 3 French horses of the 10 runners represent the home team and while the English and Irish horses are usually more forward and battle hardened than there French counter-parts, the French have won 5 of the last 6 runnings of this race. Aiden O’Briens Zetland Stakes winner Norway and the favourite for that race Sydney Opera House set a decent standard, that race was over today’s distance of 10 furlongs. The two horses that appeal most to me are Shoot For Gold and Anecdotic who both come here on the back of just two runs.

Anecdotic is already a winner of a minor conditions event at Compiengne over 10 furlongs. He won very easily stepping up to 10 furlongs despite pulling early and running green, today’s race is likely to be run at a decent pace which should suit and help him to settle. This is a huge step up to group 1 company but his trainer Freddy Head who has had a great season wouldn’t aim him so high unless he thought he could be competitive.

Shoot For Gold was really impressive when winning over a mile in soft ground, while it won’t be as testing today he should relish the step up to 10 furlongs.
