Sistercharlie Can Fend Off the Europeans in the Filly & Mare Turf

16.38 Churchill Downs, Breeders Cup Turf Sprint

This race is loaded with pace, with most of it drawn wide which could see carnage upfront early as the early lead is contested. It’s bound to be fast run and maybe too fast to set something up for a closer. Disco Partner is the type of horse that can benefit if they do go off really quick and while 6 furlongs maybe his ideal trip, the slower ground may help him and may bring the front-runners back to him as long as it’s not too soft. He‘s forecast to go off at 7/2 on the U.S. morning line but can be backed at 6/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair with 4 places on offer.

Disco Partner, 6/1 Paddy Power and Betfair

If Wild Illusion is able to run to form on her first U.S. start then she will be hard to beat, along with Aiden O’Briens Magic Wand and Dermot Weld’s Eziyra, the European challenge is very strong. I will go with the ex-european Sistercharlie who has taken well to U.S. racing, already the winner of two grade one’s since moving over to the America to Chad Brown. She has very little to find on form with the Europeans and with her experience of U.S. racing she rates as a decent bet at the 5/1 available with the UK bookies.

Sistercharlie, 5/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair

18.46 Churchill Downs, Breeders Cup Sprint

The market leaders Imperial Hint and last year’s winner Roy H come in to this year’s race in great form, along with the 3-year-old Promises Fulfilled who has dropped back to sprinting after a poor classic campaign. Limousine Liberal finished third to Promises Fulfilled last time out but he met trouble in running several times in the straight and was never able to get out, yet he finished just under a length behind the winner. He has an outstanding record at Churchill Downs, where he is 6 from 8 and the winner of his last 4 races. He is drawn wide in 8 of 9 but he likes to drop out so this isn’t a negative; at 10/1 he rates the bet in here to surprise the market leaders if he can find a clear path through.

Limousine Liberal, 10/1 Bet365
