17.05 Episode
I have spent a fair amount of time going through this Doncaster card and I feel the best race for the SS bet at this meeting is the lucky last.
I will not bore anyone, the final 2 selections I ended up with are not surprisingly the top 2 in the betting.
The form used is Doncaster Timed from the marker, to 2nd last, then 2nd last to the winning line
Saint Cajetan 27.5//41.3 G/Soft
Episode 28.8//37.1 G/Soft
EPISODE Did come under pressure and appeared to not really be doing much 4 hurdles from home. This is a slight worry, however look at his finishing pace, if he can reproduce these figures Saint Cajetan will need to bring his A game here today. Saint Cajetan will have the beauty of track advantage looking at the pace figure above, this could be vital, as if expected Episode comes under pressure 4 out this could pose problems for the selection. I have to stick to my guns and go with Episode, in the hope he can make a move and run down this field around 2 hurdles from home.
Over @ Newbury the 15.50 looks a good little race. If we concentrate on the top 2 in the betting we take out the majority of the percentage chance of winning. We can rate these two runners on Doncaster form. The times are from the marker to 2nd last, then 2nd last to the winning line.
Behind the Wire 39.8//29.00 Good. Beggars Cross 38.7//29.8 G/Soft.
This looks mighty close here, Behind the Wire looked to be absolutely swinging @ Doncaster, you were just waiting for the Jockey to let out a bit of rein and this looked like it would win on the snaffle, the horse did not go through with effort, this leaves a question mark on whether this horse can be rellied upon to see out and sign off his races, he did it at Taunton so maybe I am looking to deeply into this. I have a question mark.
Alternatively, Beggars Cross looked fortunate to win last time, Carli King did not make good shapes over the fences, this presented a great chance to Beggars and he took it. This cannot really be posted up as a selection because these times are just too close. If we take the ground into consideration Beggars looks ok. I may be tempted here to have a small interest bet on Beggars Cross here, in the belief that Behind the Wire may just wilt if it starts getting tough.
Lingfield 15.40.
Intransigent There looks to be a lack of pace in this race, that may mess the race up as it turns into a dash in the final straight. I will go here with proven track form and times. Intransigent. he narrowly gets the nod over Suqoor, it is very tight. Intransigent 23.3//22.2. Suqoor 23.5//22.4. It is worth noting that Suqoor could easily have gone faster, he was quite heavily eased. I will stick with the selection though as I think he will take the beating here.
