Days like yesterday do not come along that often and it was nice to finally have some decent priced winners having endured quite a torrid last few months. I have been closely following the French racing this year especially on the AW and these raiders are often overlooked by the UK markets.
Be careful today as I can see me hitting the ground with rather a large thump.
Today I have had a look at the Meydan card concentrating on the dirt races and have another two French raiders that I think are slightly overpriced
17.50 Meydan TALISMANIC (1/2 pt each way 12/1 Paddy Power otherwise 8/1 generally)
Paddy Power are way out of line here and 12/1 if you can get it is too big a price for this horse. The horse last year won the Breeders Cup Turf and this year has been aimed at this race. He was tried over 1900m (normally short of his best) last time on the AW and he won that race beating CLOTH OF STARS (second in the ARC last year) and this slight step up in trip should be in his favour.
12.45 Meydan ROSA IMPERIAL (1/2 pt each way 12/1 generally)
Slightly more of a punt this one as he is been stepped upped 300m in trip. Last time out he finished second (beaten 3/4l) to CITY LIGHT and third that day was LUCKY TEAM so we know that we have a strong form line there. If he stays he should give a good account.
The other horse that I like today is
15.35 Mussleburgh CLEVER COOKIE (1/2 pt each way 14/1 1,2,3,4,generally or 16/1 1,2,3)
The horse has not raced here since his days NH days but recorded figures here of 1221 and one of those wins was in a NH flat race. Last season he was once again aimed at the better class staying races and this is probably the poorest race he has raced in for some time. The horse has won 1st time out and this ground will not be a problem for him.
