Race Profiles - THE GRAND NATIONAL

Not a race for backing horses with big stakes and this year I have had a look at the race to see if it can be profiled and below I have listed what I believe are the key profiles

  • Headgear - None ot Blinkers
  • Age - 8-y-o to 11-y-o
  • Weight - 10-03 to 11-09
  • Highest Class Win - Class 2 and above
  • Class Move - Between 2 classes below or above last race
  • Max Distance Ran - 3m1.5f or more
  • Horse Runs last 90 days - Between 1 and 3
  • Horse Runs Season - Between 3 and 10
  • Horse Wins Career - Between 5 and 10
  • Horse Wins Class - Between 0 and 1
  • LR days - 21 to 60 days
  • LR Placing - Finished in first 8 or was pulled up

Using these profiles we are left with the following Shortlist

  • DEFINITLY RED - a good jumper and stays all day likely to be well supported
  • BLAKLION -good second in Haydock and looks like he will be suited to this step up in trip and will like this ground
  • SAHPHIR DU RHEU - ran well in the Gold Cup and has a touch of class -drying ground a plus
  • LORD WINDERMERE did have a touch of class but only 3 runs since 2015?
  • DOCTOR HARPER - does jump well but form a little patchy

Make sure you find a bookmaker that is offering the first 6 home at present that is BetVictor Paddy Power and Betway
