Race Profile - 15.35 Doncaster The Grimthorpe Chase

Another race with some strong profiles and the last 9 winners have once again come from the profiles listed below

  1. Age - Between 8-y-o and 11-y-o
  2. Horse Runs Season - Between 2 and 5
  3. Jockey Claim - 0lbs (no claiming jockey)
  4. Days Since Run - Between 16 and 75 days

After applying these profiles we are left with the following 3 runners

DEFINITLY RED

The horse fell last time out when badly hampered but that was in a Grade 2 race and the time before he won a Grade 3 race at Wetherby beating Wakanda and Yala Enki. All wins have come on GTS and softer ground so anymore rain would not be a problem. When racing at 3m1f+: 11F. When racing in fields of 1 to 7 runners: 4 wins from 7 runs. When racing 31 to 60 days after last race: 5 wins from 7 runs. When ridden by Danny Cook: 21211. When racing on slightly undulating and undulating tracks: 6 wins from 10 runs. Trainer 14 day form: 1 win from 13 runners. Trainer 1 year course form: 6 wins from 44 runners. Jockey 1 year course form: 2 wins from 8 rides.

SEGO SUCCESS

The horse has not really shown much since winning at this track in 2015, however he has now slipped back to that mark and the trainer also has gone for a visor. In this case this is not a negative as the last 8 times the trainer has used the visor for the 1st time on one of his chasers 4 have won (including the last two runners). When racing a Doncaster: 144. When racing in fields of 1 to 7 runners: 4114. When racing off a mark of 131 to 140: 1501P whilst in 7 attempts he has failed to win off a mark of 140+. All wins have come on flat or slightly undulating tracks. Trainer 14 day form: 5 wins from 34 runners. Trainer 1 year course form: 7 wins from 38 runners. Jockey 1 year course form: 3 wins from 17 runners.

VIVALDI COLLANGES

The horse has not shown a lot this season but those were in higher grade races than this. All wins have come on GTS and softer ground. All bar one win have come in fields of 1 to 7 runners. Best on flat and slightly undulating tracks. Trainer 14 days form: 7 wins from 34 runners. Trainer 1 yea course form: 5 wins from 14 runners. Jockey 1 year course form: 1 win from 3 rides.

PACE

This track and distence tend to suit those horses that race prominently. There are three horses that like to force the pace and those are Vivaldi Collanges, Yala Enki and The Last Samurai. Definitly Red can race prominently but Sego Success does like to be held up

CONCLUSION

From the 3 horses picked i would side with Definitly Red who should run his race as usual and Sego Success now that he has dropped toa decent mark and the trainer has reached for the visor. The fly in the ointment may well be The Last Samurai who won this race well last year before going on to run a blinder in the Grand National
