Outsiders Different League and Bound For Nowhere Could Go Close

2.30 Ascot: Albany Stakes

Alpha Centauri stands at the head of this 21 runner field as a best priced 9/4 shot. She is unbeaten in two outings, winning easily both times but it could be worth siding with the unbeaten French raider Different League.

The Matthieu Palussiere trained filly is by the Sire Dabirsim, who was the champion 2-year-old of France in 2009, she was a bargain buy at just 8,000 euros but looks to be a very good buy. She has won both her starts fairly easily and looked impressive last time out winning a minor event at Angers. While she may not have beaten anything outstanding she did overcome a bad trip and made up around 10 lengths on the leader in the final 2 furlongs to win going away. She was given a pacemaker in that race to ensure a good pace, that unfortunately missed the break and couldn’t lead but Big Words set a strong pace for her to run at.

While it’s hard to quantify where she stands in this field, she could be up to the task and at a best priced 50/1 with Bet365 she is worth chancing, they are also offering ¼ the odds and paying out on 4 places on eachway bets.

3.40 Ascot: Commonwealth Cup

Caravaggio currently trades odds-on for this sprint and with all bar the first 4 runners priced up at a minimum of 40/1 it shapes up as a great eachway race.

Wesley Ward has had two winners already at this year’s meeting and it could be worth siding with his runner, Bound For Nowhere to go close at 10/1. He has won both his starts, albeit minor events, a maiden on the dirt and an allowance race on firm turf. Ward has stated that he works with Lady Aurelia and is her equal in training and she won the King’s Stand by 3 lengths on the opening day of the meeting.
