Jimmy Two Times can Make Race Fitness Pay

Tareef brings the best form in to this year’s race but, he won all the races he contested at group 2 level and below, only finding group 1 company against the likes of Ribchester and Al Wukair too good. He was also a winner first time out last year when carrying a penalty, but that was when Jean-Claude Rouget’s horse were flying, while the Chantilly based trainers were running well below par with the equine virus. This year Rouget’s horses are not performing as well as last year and he could be vulnerable first time out against a fitter rival like Jimmy Two Times.
Jimmy Two Times won this race last year and also made his seasonal appearance in the group 3 Prix Edmond Blanc, the same as this year. He won on his seasonal debut last year but could only manage third this time around, though it was still a decent performance and he should come on a lot for the run, especially now the Fabre horse are running well.
Heshem has some great form and was a winner on Debut in February but he’s dropping back in distance to a trip he has never raced over. The same goes for Recoletos, who is more of a 10 furlong horse and has shown a liking for desperate ground, today’s 1 mile on good ground could be a little quick for him first time out.
While Taareef has an easier opening here than last year, at the prices and with race fitness Jimmy Two Times at 5/2 is the bet here.
