Elgin Can Place in the Supreme at a Big Price

1.30 Cheltenham

Elgin has finished first or second in his last six races and at 33/1 eachway (currently with Betbright) or around 8.0 to place on the exchanges he looks a decent bet to place again. The race should be run at a decent pace, which will help him settle and he also races without a penalty, having recently tried to concede weight to Neon Wolf and River Wylde.

He was only beaten three and a half lengths by River Wylde last time out, having been level at the last, until blundering his chance away. River Wylde is a best priced 8/1 for today’s while Elgin is four times the price.

The Ultima Handicap is a really competitive race and while you wouldn’t want to risk too much in this race it could be worth chancing a few at big prices.

David Pipe does well in these races and Un Temps Pour Tout will have been targeted at this race, he is a best priced 16/1 for this with the bookies and 19.0 on the exchanges.

Jonjo O’Neil’s Holywell has slipped down the handicap and he saves his best for Cheltenham. He could turn in an improved performance today and is best price on the exchanges at 13.0.

Buywise has been running poorly of late and that’s why he is available at 50/1 for today’s race. The Cheltenham hill does really suit and although he will probably end up way out the back he should be staying on and could grab a place if not leaving it too late.

My two for the Champion Hurdle are Brain Power 8/1, and Yanworth 11/4. This race is usually dominated by Willie Mullins, but he fields two outsiders in Footoad (the choice of Ruby Walsh) and Wicklow Brave. On his recent flat form, Wicklow Brave looks outstanding in this field, but his hurdles form has looked a notch below, but he is 33/1 which could be worth chancing eachway.
