Dona Bruja Can Get First Run on Sistercharlie

23.12 Keenland, Jenny Wiley Stakes

The ex-French runner, Sistercharlie looks like being one of the top turf fillies over in the U.S. based on her debut last July where she was just beaten a neck behind New Money Honey in the grade one Belmont Oaks. She was a group 3 winner in France and finished runner-up to Senga in the Prix de Diane. She may start favourite for this race despite being off the track for 280 days and with trainer Chad Brown pitching her so deep she has to be feared. The drop back to 8.5 furlongs could find her out as she does tend to race out the back and may find herself outpaced here and getting going too late and Dona Bruja looks a solid bet to profit here.

Dona Bruja was very impressive last time out over 8.5 furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs, beating La Coronel by 4 lengths, leading from the start. She has a great draw today in 4 and she should be on the lead again to should confirm form with La Coronel, especially as she is 2lb better off. Cambodia in stall 1 rates as a danger but Dona Bruja is the bet here at 100/30 to claim her first grade one with the other two market leaders Sistercharlie and La Coronel handed compromising draws in 7 and 8.
