Blue Dragon to Win the Prix Hypothèse for the Second Time

3.30 Auteuil, Prix Hypothèse

Blue Dragon was an easy 30 length winner of this race last year, being sent of the 30/100 favourite. He comes in to today’s race under a cloud after a poor run on his seasonal debut, but this was also the case last year when a facile winner of this race.

The once dominant force of Blue Dragon will come in to this race further down the betting than what he is accustomed to; having started odd-on in 9 of his last 10 races. While many bookmakers are swerving this race, Paddy Power and Betfair have put him up at 11/4, which could prove a great price.

Last year he came in to this race on the back of a fall in the Prix Juigne, the same route he has taken this year. He finished third this year after travelling well and racing with a little less exuberance than his usual tearaway style. He seemed to blow-up after the last when only a couple of lengths behind the leader and still travelling well and looking likely to be involved in the finish.

The co-owned Device made rapid headway from the last, in third to take the race and with a run under his belt; Blue Dragon can turn the tables on Device and Solway, who finished a place in front of him.
