Back-to-lay Tenor Nivernais, Royal Regatta and Pearlysteps

2.25 Ascot

Tenor Nivernais has been has been a trading gold mine; trading to less than half his BSP in-running in 8 of his last 9 races. He likes to race forward either forcing the pace or being up with the leaders in tough class one handicaps like today's 3 mile limited handicap chase. He has been hovering around the 152 mark for a year now and consistently trades low from that rating, which he races off again today. He looks to have things in his favour to run another good race and looks a decent back-to-lay around 10.0 on Betfair.

3.35 Ascot

Royal Regatta has a mountain to climb in this race off level weights against Cue Card, who is rated 13lb his superior but he could prove profitiable in this race. The once exuberant front-runner Cue Card is now ridden with more restraint and will be held up and may not 100% after a 54 day break following his efforts against Thistlecrack in the King George on Boxing Day.

Royal Regatta is sure to get his way upfront in today’s race and his performances on flat left handed tracks have been impressive in the last year. His record at Ascot is even better; in his last 5 runs he has won twice and traded well below half his BSP in-running in those other 3 races. As the dominant pace in this race he looks a decent back-to-lay at his current trading price of 11.0 on Betfair.

4.55 Haydock

Pearlysteps has been a prolific hunter chaser, who has won the last two runnings of this race. His chances of winning this year’s race has been severely hampered by the presence of the high class Wonderful Charm who is rated 20lb higher on 153. Though he’s faces a really tough task against Wonderful Charm at level weights, this front-runner could get an easy time of it upfront early to trade low in-running; he currently trades around 8.60 for a back-to-lay.
