Back-to-lay Doitforthevillage, Barton Gift and Joyful Dream

3.35 Warwick

Doitforthevillage has won 4 of his last 6 races and last time he was an easy 13 length winner of a class 4 novice handicap, just 2 weeks ago at Market Rasen.

He is up just 4lb for that that easy win, so another good run can be expected on his return to a class 2 handicap, which he did struggle to cope with in December. Though he is carrying 10lb more this time around in this higher grade, he does encounter much slower ground that should suit this hold-up horse much better and allow him to travel easily in behind at a pace he is accustomed to. He has traded down to at least half his BSP in-running in 10 of his 12 races to date and with him being in such great form he looks a great back-to-lay; he currently trades around 4.90 on the exchanges.

3.50 Exeter

Barton Gift has won 3 of his last 6 races, with all those wins coming in races where he has contested distances in excess of 3m5f, like he does today. The first of his 3 staying victories came here over course and distance in April where he front-run, and regained the lead after being headed; his other 2 wins came in similar style at Bangor.

He’s a tough front-runner who may get headed but he will battle on. He is reunited again with Nico De Boinville, who won on him here in April and looks a great back-to-lay; he is currently trading around 16.0 on Betfair.

4.35 Lingfield

Joyful Dream traded all the way down to 1.09 in-running from a BSP of 4.10 after being given a positive ride, leading until being headed in the final furlong over 7 furlongs at Wolverhampton. He has yet to win after 12 runs but has traded low in-running, to at least half his BSP in 9 of those races and came closest to a first win last time out over today’s distance of 7 furlongs. He has drawn stall 2, which is a great draw for another positive ride up with the pace and possibly leading; he currently trades around 12.0 for a back-to-lay.
