Air Pilot Can Take Advantage of Race Conditions at Saint-Cloud

1.35 Saint-Cloud, Prix Exbury

Garlingari and Spotify come in to this race with a run under their belts, but it could be worth siding with the Ralph Beckett trained Air Pilot despite the fact that this is his first start of the season.

The heavy ground will really suit Garlingari who does look a much better horse in testing conditions. He won this race in 2016 where the race conditions were really in his favour having to carry just 8-9, but today he shoulders 9-4, conceding weight to all. He is race fit but he could be vulnerable with his penalty.

Spotify has won his last two on the all-weather but he was well-treated in those races and it’s a different story here with 9-0 to carry today in a much tougher race.

Air Pilot, the highest rated in here carries just 8-11. He has run well first time out and has won at Chantilly on soft ground. Today’s ground is going to be much worse than he has ever encountered before, but with having such a good record on soft ground, todays conditions may well suit. He is a best priced 7/2 to take advantage with the race conditions in his favour and although it’s his first run of the season against race-fit rivals his trainer wouldn’t be coming all the way over to Saint-Cloud if he didn’t think he could win the race.

It could certainly pay to keep an eye on the PMU close to race time for a bigger price on Air Pilot as Garlingari is a crowd favourite with the French and Andre Fabre has a runner in here too that could attract support.
