15.00 Fontwell Totepool National Spirit Hurdle - Race Profile

Today there is another strong profile race at Fontwell, the National Spirit Hurdle.

The profiles below have found the winner of this race since 2008 (the 9 winners have come from 24 selections)

  1. Age - Between 7-y-o and 9-y-o
  2. Weight - Between 11-03 and 11-11
  3. Highest Class Win - Class 3 or higher
  4. Number of runs last 365 days - Between 5 and 12
  5. Days Since Run - Between 6 and 75 days

Using the above profiles narrows the field down to 3 runners LIL ROCKERFELLER, LAMI SERGE and CAMPING GROUND

LIL ROCKERFELLER

The horse was below par in the Relkeel (II don't think he is at his best on very undulating tracks) but it would be no suprise to see him bounce back in a race he won last year. For some reason the horse has never won in January but from February onwards his record reads: 214171. All of his wins have come in fields of 8 to 11 runners (4 wins from 9 runs). When racing 31 to 60 days after ast race his record reads: 41. Over the last year the trainer has only had 10 runners at this track and 3 have won

LAMI SERGE

The horse ran well in the Relkeel but it is frustrating that he always seems to find one horse to good. When racing at 2m1f to 2m3.5f his record reads: 121. As the ground is GTS with soft patches I feel that there will be enough cut in the ground for the horse. He has a good record on slightly undulating or undulating tracks of 11112.

CAMPING GROUND

The horse was well beaten in the Relkeel and has not shown that much since winning the Relkeel in 2016. All of his wins have come on soft or heavy ground. When racing 31 to 365 days record reads: 9FU2. Both of his wins have come in fields of 1 to 11 runners and his record when racing in January and February reads: 1551.

PACE

Like Kempton yesterday this is a track that suits prominent racers. Both Camping Ground and Lil Rockerfeller like to race close to pace and Lami Serge athough held up the last twice can race prominently. The two likely front runners are Shelford and Adrien Du Pont

CONCLUSION

I really cannot have CAMPING GROUND on what he has shown this season and after his run in the Relkeel. I will therefore stick with LIL ROCKERFELLER who clearly likes this going and track and LAMI SERGE who ran well in the Relkeel last time out.

Of the other horses I should mention LE ROCHER a horse that in his juvenile days won a Grade 1 and 2 at Cheltenham but was off then for two years and although clearly not up to that form did win a Class 2 and Uttoxeter last time out he is one to watch today.
